Whilst growing up in Tanga, Tanzania, kiwi's were not readily available to us until after 2012. Although, the first time I tasted kiwi was on my family trip to Thailand in 2006, and ohhh it tasted so delicious and sweet. I'd say I ate almost 30 kiwis in that 1 week of my trip. This recipe was actually a kitchen error. Let me explain - My little one wanted a quick snack and so I was planning to make guacamole. But, I did not have any ripened avocados so went with whatever I had in my refrigerator. I only had kiwis, cream cheese spread and other few ingredients (ahhh, my groceries did not arrive on time due to Covid slowdowns). That is when this refreshing kiwi salsa was concocted. Let's not forget you only need "5 INGREDIENTS"!
Kiwi Salsa:
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Rest Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings:1/2
Ingredient:
2 kiwi (chopped)
2 Boursin cranberry cheese spread
1/4 tsp rose water or orange blossom water
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 tsp salt flakes
1 tsp honey
Rice cracker/Bread for serving
Directions:
1. Chop the kiwis and transfer to a bowl. Add rose water, salt, red pepper flakes and honey. Keep aside for 2 minutes for the mixture to release water.
2. Spread the Boursin cheese on top of a rice cracker or a slice of bread.
3. Add the kiwi salsa on top and sprinkle a little chilli pepper flakes for the extra heat. Enjoy!
